Perfect Imperfect /friction joint. shown in 2018
It was one of those random discoveries in a workshop. By cramping two offsetting pipes on a vise together and accidentally applying too much force, they became ever so slightly squashed and became oval. When I was pulling one pipe out from the larger one, it got caught by an unexpected friction. Then I realised that
the nature of having two deformed sections caused a friction as the pipes got turned and they eventually locked to each other. I was fascinated by discovery and thought about experimenting it with telescopic or nesting joint but I never got around to do so… It was a true perfect imperfection.
