Seto, Fredericia, 2023

This design traces the projected images that I have behind Fredericia’s history. Børge Mogensen’s works and bold use of materials are an extraordinary reference for the brand. This idea for Seto came to mind when I translated such a presence into today’s context. Seto is a name for a region in Japan where the longest bridge connects Shikoku island to the main island.
This name resonated with the stool’s simple wooden yoke that connects two tapered solid legs and creates an “H” shaped bridge. The idea behind this “H” was natural. Making a recognisable structure and a seating experience that speaks to the company’s craft was intriguing. As a result, I am pleased to have built something that looks and feels already, Fredericia.
