Kip bench for Fiskars Village Art and Design Biennale, 2019

This bench was originally designed for a “Social seating” project, which Jasper Morrison curated for the 1st Art & Design Biennale in Fiskars Village in Finland. Jasper invited 18 international designers to design benches along the trail in the village. My idea for this project was to develop a bench that pays tribute to nature and the atmosphere of the place. I wanted to design a bench that felt so natural that it looked like it had been there for years. As its name suggests, I wished the work would become a place where people could sit together and share the moment or enjoy socialising with nature and birds. For this purpose, the bench needed a graceful and inviting form. Lastly, I thank Thomas Graversen from Fredericia for our fantastic collaboration in crafting this piece.
